Biography
Dr. Mohammed El Fahar currently works as an associate professor of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Mansoura University, Egypt. Dr. El Fahar has more than 18 years’ experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is a European board (EBOPRAS) / Egyptian board certified (M.D., Ph.D.) and a member of several international scientific societies in Europe, Japan, and the Middle East, where he has also got trained. He is an international member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeon(ASPS) & Active Member of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM). Also, he is a fellow of the Dutch Association for Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (DAFPRSF).
He is one of the few surgeons in the world who can perform Supermicrosurgery
(submillimeter anastomosis for vessels less than 0.3 mm that is very important in lymphedema surgery using LVA – Lymph node transfer.
He is best known for his expertise in Facial aesthetic surgeries and body contouring surgery and reconstructive microsurgery especially in pediatrics amongst other procedures.
He uses the most advanced and complex breast reconstruction microsurgery techniques to rebuild a natural breast, and as a result, restores a sense of wellness to the patient. The breast reconstruction that is offered by Dr. El Fahar is performed either during the mastectomy surgery or afterward; or even years post-mastectomy. He uses a number of techniques, including DIEP, SGAP, IGAP, PAP, TUG flaps, which is unique when it comes to the preservation of important muscles and results in more natural results.
Dr. El Fahar attended Mansoura University as an undergraduate in Faculty of Medicine. His residency training was at Mansoura university hospital, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. After residency, Dr. El Fahar completed a Fellowship in hand and reconstructive microsurgery from Assiut University. He received his doctoral degree in plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 2012, European board 2014.
